If you have ever considered a career in food, hotel and restaurant administration, or something involving tourism and travel, you are exploring the hospitality industry. The word “hospitality” is used as an umbrella term to describe anything involving services, but it is so much more than that. As the best hospitality convention centers and event venues in Maryland, New Psalmist Retreat and Meeting Center prides itself not only on our wonderful services, but also on being an open door for anyone exploring a potential career in the hospitality field. Today, we will look at some of the various sectors in the hospitality industry so you have a more clear view of what it entails and just how much goes into this continually growing field.
Hotels and Accommodations
One of the most commonly discussed sections of the hospitality field is hotels and accommodations. Lodging is a crucial piece of the economy, as business people, investors, job interviewees, and networkers all tend to travel at least once a year for work. Without services like hotels, bed and breakfasts, and resorts, travel would be much more stressful and inconvenient. Though the team here at New Psalmist does not provide lodging on-site, we always host visitors and events at our venue involving folks from out of town. Without quality lodging and hotels in the area, we would not be able to host the great events we do day-in and day-out.
Food and Beverage
What is travel and leisure without some food and drink? When you go to a restaurant, the staff aims to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Those methods may include a wide variety of options on the menu, as well as a spacious dining room and welcoming decor. You would not enjoy eating in a room or drinking at a bar where the lights were too bright, there were unfriendly staff members, or you could not find something you’d enjoy eating. We aim to make your food experience as great as any restaurant. New Psalmist offers an in-house catering service so we can fill any banquet room or event space with delicious food prepared right on-site so you have one stop when planning an event, from the conference hall to the meals you will eat.
Event planning is what we do best here at New Psalmist Retreat and Meeting Center. Whether you and your church group need an event hall, your company requires a large conference center or hall for your corporate events, or you are planning your wedding day and are looking for the finest wedding venue or reception hall, we can do it all. We have rooms that fit anywhere from 20 to 3000 people at a time, meaning we can plan any event you have in mind. No party or meeting is too lofty for our quality event planners.
The hospitality industry covers a great deal of ground. From food to lodging, there are so many facets involved in the field that you can’t talk about only one. New Psalmist Retreat and Meeting Center prides ourselves on handling a great deal of the hospitality required in putting on a great event.
